<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Standardized extracts of undenatured type II collagen (UC-II) are used as alternative approaches to the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). The effect of UC-II extracts is associated with the modulation of the mechanisms of innate and acquired immunity, a decrease in the activity of proinflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins. Epitopes of native collagen in the structure of UC-II contribute to a decrease in the activity of autoimmune reactions that stimulate cartilage degradation. Interacting with discoidin receptors, UC-II accelerates the reconstruction of cartilage connective tissue and inhibits the pro-inflammatory effects of endogenous collagens. Experimental and clinical studies confirm the effectiveness of the use of standardized substances UC-II for acceleration of cartilage regeneration and reduce pain in OA and subclinical joint dysfunction.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>хондроитина сульфат</kwd><kwd>глюкозамина сульфат</kwd><kwd>неденатурированный коллаген II типа</kwd><kwd>терапия остеоартрита</kwd><kwd>гипералгезия</kwd><kwd>цитокины</kwd><kwd>структура коллагена</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>chondroitin sulfate</kwd><kwd>glucosamine sulfate</kwd><kwd>undenatured type II collagen</kwd><kwd>osteoarthritis therapy</kwd><kwd>hyperalgesia</kwd><kwd>cytokines</kwd><kwd>collagen structure</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Статья опубликована при поддержке компании ЗАО «ФармФирма «Сотекс».</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">Publication of this article has been supported by Sotex PharmFirma</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Liu X, Machado GC, Eyles JP, et al.
